I could relate to everything you wrote. As I was reading your post, it felt as though a part of me had written it. In a way, that's true. We are all parts of the same whole, so it's natural that we share similar experiences and go through similar transformations, even if they happen at different times in our lives.
I don’t think it’s about changing our story, it’s more about realizing that stories don’t define who we are. We are the living Presence that is already here perceiving the stories that come and go. Remembering this, the stories lose their importance. 🙏
I would say the story doesn’t define us in the long term but in the moment yes. Define as in we choose who we are in this moment. So, if we feel sadness in it, to look at the sadness to discover what is sadness about we may change the story of our life. Is it make sense for you?
This is such an important insight: the stories we tell shape the world we live in.
What if we began telling stories in which we could truly be proud to have been born human? Stories in which we are remembered as the guardians of all living beings, rather than their conquerors.

Your post reminded me of something I wrote some time ago, The Many Ways of Seeing. If you would like to read it, here's the link: https://vrittiswaves.substack.com/p/the-many-ways-of-seeing

"By an act of Grace though, we eventually come to realize that believing our mental stories is what causes us suffering."
How do we change our story Without Name?
